Position: Software Engineer | Guest Mobile App Team

🏡 What team will you be joining?

As we continually look at new ways to enhance our customer journey, we're investing heavily in our Guest Mobile App.

With the goal of creating a personalised travel experience for our Guests, we're currently building this team from scratch using React Native and upon joining you'll have a big part to play in the future of how our customers book and manage their holidays via our awaze network.

🏡 What will your role be?

Joining our engineering teams and reporting to our Engineering Manager, you’ll join a culture which revolves around getting things done. We deliver with small, fully autonomous teams that have real ownership of their products using a cutting edge stack in a best-idea-wins meritocracy. We operate what we build – which means reliability is key and devops is part of every engineer’s job description.

🏡 Day-to-day you will:

• Work as part of a full stack mobile app product team, you’ll be responsible for building innovative products to ensure we continue to deliver optimal experiences for our guests and owners.
• Help shape the overall architecture and tech strategy for our Guess Mobile App product journey using the right technology for the task, rather than allowing the technology to dictate the solution.
• Contribute to driving best engineering practices such as CI/CD, TDD, cloud architectures and pair/mob programming.
• Experiment (it’s encouraged), collaborate, learn and debate.
• Be an active member of the engineering and wider tech community within Awaze.

🏡 Who are you?

You’ll enjoy working in pairs & mobs, you thrive in an autonomous product engineering team and enjoy problems, we have many to solve.

A passionate Full Stack Engineer, you will offer experience/knowledge in a mixture of the following (we are not expecting you to know everything):

• Expertise using React, React Native, Node.js & Typescript
• Experience building mobile apps (iOS and/or Android) would be useful.
• Experience with AWS or serverless technologies e.g. AWS Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, API Gateway
• Building Microservices and APIs within an Event Driven Architecture environment.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines: GoCD, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc
• Infra-as-code tools such as Terraform, Cloudformation
• Modern quality practices, such as pairing, TDD, BDD

🏡 Interview process:

We like to keep our interview process as efficient and stress-free as possible, so here’s what to expect:

Part 1) You’ll have a cultural interview with two of our Engineering Managers, where we will be looking for you to evidence your suitability for the role, but of course this isn’t one sided – you’ll get plenty of chance to ask questions, too. (1hr)

Part 2) You’ll complete a pair programming exercise with two of our senior engineers. Don’t worry though, we’re not trying to catch you out, instead we’re looking to see how solve problems and how you interact/work in a pair. (1hr)

And, we commit to provide you with a decision within 24 hours of your interview.
