Doccla Closes £35m Series B Funding Round

London-based virtual hospital ward startup Doccla has secured a significant £35m Series B funding round, led by Lakestar. The company was founded in 2019 by Martin Ratz, who was inspired to create Doccla after his own experience with a heart attack. Ratz observed the limited monitoring provided by traditional hospitals despite the availability of advanced medical technology.

Doccla aims to revolutionise healthcare by providing constant virtual monitoring of patients. This real-time data enables medical staff to stay informed about patient conditions and intervene as needed. Originally launched in Sweden, Doccla expanded to the UK in 2020 and quickly gained traction, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company now works with NHS partners and a number of international healthcare providers, demonstrating the growing demand for innovative virtual healthcare solutions.

“In less than five years Doccla has gone from a research project to establishing itself as the market leader in the UK,” said Lakestar partner Oliver Heimes.

“We are confident they will not just maintain that position but successfully launch in new markets, whilst diversifying their services. Remote patient care delivers proven results and is ushering in new standards in the healthcare systems globally.”
